A Musical and Comedy Extravaganza at Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui: 《Music&Laughs》Concert with Cantopop Stars Jason Chan, Jay Fung, Cath Wong, Dee Ho and Fatboy

Description
Veteran musician Edward Chan leads the Pro-Art Orchestra, joined by Cantopop stars Jason Chan, Jay Fung, Cath Wong, Dee Ho and Fatboy in a joyous extravaganza that blends comedy, dance and unique stage designs. The concert, titled 《Music&Laughs》, promises tailor-made collaborative performances featuring various combinations and formats. Taking place at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on July 19 and 20, the concert aims to bring laughter to the audience.
Comedy has accompanied the growth of many Hong Kongers, with movies offering unexpected 'misunderstandings' and 'anti-climax' dialogues that create humorous contrasts, evoking smiles and even laughter that lingers in memory, sometimes bringing tears of joy.
When it comes to comedy, the name 'Stephen Chow' naturally comes to mind. Jason Chan, Cath Wong, Dee Ho and Fatboy's favorite comedies unanimously are Chow's classic works. 'We grew up watching Stephen Chow's movies. My favorite is 《God of Gamblers》,' says Jason Chan. 'Looking back, it's not because of any particular line or joke, but because these comedies represent an era. For this concert, I will be singing some new songs...haha,' he adds, keeping the details a surprise. Cath Wong's favorite is the 'Intermittent, Directionless, Psychopathic, Sociopathic, Inanimate, Irritable Bowel Syndrome' in 《All's Well, Ends Well》. 'That scene is truly hilarious, and Leslie Cheung is so handsome. I've watched it at least ten times, even during Chinese New Year,' she says with a laugh.
Dee Ho shares his favorite comedy is 《Out of the Dark》, as he finds it imaginative yet well-explained. 'Many great comedians have said, 'My tragedy is your comedy.' Every era has its comedians, and I personally admire Fatboy,' he says. In return, Fatboy praises Dee as an excellent man: 'On camera, no matter how others bully him, he never argues back, or maybe he wants to, but no one listens. That's the 'tragedy' he mentioned! My favorite scene is from 《Flirting Scholar》 when the team is pulling the intestine. I've lost count of how many times I've watched it. There's no particular reason to like comedies; it's just about making people happy, even in a nonsensical way.'
Jay Fung, who grew up overseas, favors 《Click》: 'Adam Sandler is truly funny. The portrayal of an everyday little guy is so relatable, and there's a meaningful message behind the humor.' He reveals that he will present a different side of himself at the concert: 'It's going to be a breakthrough performance! Besides collaborating with Jason Chan and Cath Wong, I will also be performing with Dee Ho and Fatboy, who I find very funny. I hope I won't laugh so hard that I lose my voice while singing.'
The most classic comedies are not about forcing laughter but embodying a 'laughing through life' attitude. The《Music&Laughs》 concert is divided into four chapters, where musicians reinterpret songs to showcase emotions evoked by comedy, navigating through music, laughter and human connections. Whether it's the orchestra's grandeur, the emotions of pop music, imaginative stage performances, or the humor found in city life, the concert allows the audience to pat themselves on the back and continue walking with a smile during life's ups and downs.
